COVID-19 RMS update
This information is made available from the Roads and Maritimes Services NSW.
We are able to temporarily defer your annual Fitness to Drive Medical Assessment if you are aged 75 years and older or you are a low risk driver. We are doing this to protect our older drivers and help slow the spread of COVID-19.
Drivers who are considered high risk include those who require a specialist review, police identified drivers and heavy vehicle drivers. High risk drivers will still be required to undertake a medical assessment within the usual timeframes.
To defer your medical and ensure that your licence remains current you must call the Transport Licence Review Unit on (02) 6604 9301 between 8am and 7pm Monday to Friday, or email Medicalunit@rms.nsw.gov.au (make sure you include your name and licence number).
We need you to call us so that we can allocate a new date for your medical. Our systems are automated and medical reviews are issued eight weeks in advance of the due date. We cannot automatically allocate a new date for all customers as we need to confirm that you wish to continue driving and allocate a deferral date based on your level of risk.
Please call Young Eyes (63824000) if you need help understanding the process
