About Contact Lens Wear

Contact lenses give you convenience of life without glasses. Often your vision may be clearer than it is with spectacles. Almost everyone who wears glasses will be able to use contact lenses. Some will use contact lenses on an irregular basis for special occasions or sport whereas others will wear them every day.

Contact lenses require new measurements separate to your spectacle prescription. All new contact lens wearers will be required to attend an eye examination and a contact lens tuition, which will teach you how to use contact lenses correctly.

We will choose a contact lens type which suits your lifestyle and your prescription.

Disposable lenses are available in a variety of designs to suit most prescriptions. These include:

Daily Lenses

These are worn once then discarded. They are ideal for sports or occasional wear.

Extended Wear Lenses

These can be worn continuously for a periods of up to 30 days. They are made from natural materials which allow the eye to breathe and stay healthy. Regular eye health checks will still be required.

Multifocal Lenses

These can be worn by people requiring vision correction at both close and far.

Soft Contact Lens Care

Proper care of your eyes is very important when wearing contacts and we will recommend the most appropriate products to care for your lens and your eyes.

Orthokeratology

Orthokeratology is a contact lens treatment that corrects your vision while you sleep. You simply insert the custom designed rigid contact lenses before you go to sleep at night, remove them in the morning, and wake up with clearer and sharper natural vision.

It is a safe, convenient, non-surgical alternative that allows you to achieve clear vision all day without the use of spectacles or contact lenses. The lenses need to be worn every night to help achieve ongoing clear vision.
